about

Written with a specific memory in mind. Driving through Norfolk back in the early nineties when I was for a brief period, a travelling salesman. Somewhere between King's Lynne and Fakenham on a very cold and misty winter morning, The Moon and the Melodies by Harold Budd and the Cocteau Twins was playing on the car stereo. The combination of the beautiful Norfolk countryside bathed in mist, with the heavenly music providing the soundtrack burnt an image into my head which I can still visit to this day.

This music does nothing to bring that vision to life, but the vision itself inspired the single line of lyrics.

lyrics

I’m driving
Down the road
On the Flatlands
In the cold
